Stop II · Today / Inbox / Ask

A briefing that already knows your week.

Today reads what Homaic is holding for you. Inbox is one stream of captures and notifications. Ask sits where you are. Three surfaces, one record. The recurring-maintenance schedule surfaces here too, in the rhythm of the McCallister week.

Ask

Ask the McCallister residence anything. Homaic answers from your record.

Should I get a third roof quote before deciding?

Homaic

No, your two quotes are enough. Castro and Northshore are both CertainTeed-certified, both have McCallister-neighborhood references, and both quoted within $3,530 of each other. A third quote would arrive in the same band and delay your install past hail season. Decide between the two you have.

The choice is Northshore's longer labor warranty against Castro's earlier install window. If you have travel between May 12 and 15, Northshore wins on schedule too. If not, the warranty is the load-bearing variable.

Stop III · The Home Plan

The Plan, generated from your address.

The Home Plan is the inbound artifact. Address in, document out. Public records, system inference, climate context, and open items, all assembled before you have captured a single thing. A standing read on the home.

Stop IV · Asset Ingestion

Photo, voice, document, message. Homaic structures the input.

You give signals. Homaic does the categorization, the tagging, the cross-references. A nameplate photo becomes a Trane condenser with serial and install date. A voice memo becomes a service note attached to the right asset. You do not learn a schema.

Stop V · The Project Plan

A guided plan, for the question you actually have.

Project Plans turn a homeowner question into a structured intake. Roof replacement, water filtration, generator backup, kitchen renovation. The Plan asks the questions a thoughtful contractor would ask first, then composes a recommendation with the reasoning intact.

Project Plan · 671 Lincoln Ave · 2025

Roof replacement, decision week.

Three quotes received July 22-28, 2025. Comparison built. Recommendation drafted. Awaiting Peter and Kate.

Scope

Replace the original 1996 architectural shingles, currently 28 years old and showing granule loss after the May 2025 hail event. Tear-off to sheathing, deck inspection, new underlayment, ridge ventilation review, and CertainTeed Landmark Pro architectural shingles. New gutters out-of-scope (gutters were replaced 2022, still serviceable). A 30-year roof on a 1921 frame; matched to expected ownership horizon.

Decisions queued
  1. Pick contractor. Recommendation: Northshore for the longer labor warranty.
  2. Confirm install timing against the family's August Wisconsin trip. Northshore's Aug 18-21 brackets the trip; Peter is home Aug 17.
  3. Notify State Farm. Done · sent 2025-07-29 to the adjuster of record.
  4. HOA notification. Not required (Winnetka village, no covenant on roof material).
Timeline
  1. Decision. This week.
  2. Permits + sequencing. Within 7 days of decision.
  3. Install. Per the chosen window; 3-4 working days.
  4. Close-out. Walkthrough, punch list, sign-off, warranty registration. 1 week after final tear-off.
  5. Documentation. New asset record, warranty filed, photos archived to the Manifest.

Stop VI · The Project Brief

The same record, formatted for whoever needs it.

A contractor needs scope, prior work, decision frame. An insurance adjuster needs systems, dates, receipts. A family member needs the plain explanation. One record, three Briefs, audience-tailored. The recipient walks in already briefed.

For the contractor

Castro Roofing receives scope, prior repair history, decision frame, and the McCallister's preferred install window.

For the adjuster

State Farm receives the asset inventory affected by the storm, install dates, receipts, and the prior claim history.

For the household

Kate McCallister receives the plain-language read on what Peter is deciding, what the household chose, and why.

Stop VII · Comparison Matrix

Three quotes back. The decision is easier than the wait.

Homaic lays the responses side by side. Material. Warranty. References. Earliest install. Smart-home fit. Cross-checks against your existing coverage. The killer scenario you might have missed is on the grid, and the read on why it might win is in italics, where Homaic states a position.

Stop VIII · Decision Card

The reasoning stays with the decision.

Why you chose the longer warranty over the cheaper quote. Why galvanized instead of PEX. Three years from now, the next person who asks gets the real answer, with the cross-check sources still attached.

Decision committed · 2025-08-04 · Peter McCallister

Northshore Roofing, for the longer labor warranty.

$41,950

Why: Northshore is $3,530 more than the next quote but carries a ten-year labor warranty against Castro's five. Across the architectural-shingle service life, that earns the premium. Three McCallister-neighborhood references, two visited. Castro stays in the rolodex for smaller scope next year.

Stop IX · Service Events

Eight stages, from question to close-out.

A service event is not a calendar entry. It is a thread that holds the decision, the quotes, the work, the close-out, and the next inspection window. The same thread becomes evidence for the next owner.

Stop XII · Homaic horizontals

The intelligence layer for your home.

Homaic is the homeowner intelligence platform: a multi-sided network of homes, households, and decisions. Adjacencies into insurance, real estate transactions, home warranty, and small-cap property management. Built on architecture, not on policy.

Mode A

Homaic AI is built in. It reads the record as it grows. It states a position when the data warrants. It never invents a position when the data does not.

Mode B

Bring your own AI. Mode B exposes every Homaic surface as a Model Context Protocol tool. Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, anything MCP-aware. Your home stays yours; your AI of choice stays yours.

AGPL self-host

The full Homaic stack is AGPL. Run it on your own hardware in an hour. The records live where you decide. The product can disappear; the manifest cannot.

BYOM portability

Bring Your Own Manifest. Export your full record in three formats: Postgres dump, JSON, CSV. The exit is one click, three formats, every byte.

Privacy by architecture

Not a checkbox in a settings page. The license, the MCP server, the export functions, the self-host path. The architecture itself doing the work.
